Young Tree Pruning Workshop

  • Eastmoreland Neighborhood Association 2925 Southeast Carlton Street Portland, OR, 97202 United States (map)

The Eastmoreland Tree Committee is offering a Young Tree Pruning Workshop on Saturday April 12, from 10 to noon. It is opened to all our neighbors.

Did you know that the best time to prune a tree (yard or street tree) is within ten years of its planting? Skillful pruning in the early years helps gently guide the tree’s growth, resulting in a balanced crown and fewer form problems in the future that require more extensive and costly pruning.

Led by the two tree pathologists on our tree committee, the group will look at different young street trees, discuss actions that could be taken now or in the years to come, by homeowners or their arborist, to insure the newly planted trees' harmonious growth. We will look at different trees in our neighborhood and we recommend that you come with a vehicle as we will carpool to different areas of Eastmoreland. You will have opportunities to ask all the questions you might have.

The workshop  will start promptly at 10:00 a.m., rain or shine, in front of the house at 2925 SE Carlton. and will not last more than two hours, depending on the number of questions. No registration needed.
