Every Friday - Duniway Bike Bus!

  • Portland, OR, 97202 United States (map)

Hey Eastmoreland, the Duniway Bike Bus is rolling for the 2025–26 school year!

What began as a small group of students riding together has grown into a full-blown Bike Bus! Each Friday morning from 7:30–7:50 a.m., kids and parent volunteers join in along the Bike Bus route—creating a safe, social, and energizing start to the day. The Bike Bus rides rain or shine!

During the ride, the group takes up the entire street (both directions). Following Bike Bus safety protocol, we ride as a “blob”—a large group moving together so that cars cannot pass through. Parent volunteers also help by temporarily blocking intersections, making sure the whole group can cross safely. We want neighbors to be aware that this is how the Bike Bus operates, as these practices keep everyone visible, protected, and ensure the ride is safe for even our youngest participants.

WHAT IS THE DUNIWAY BIKE BUS:
It is a fun, safe way for kids in Eastmoreland to ride their bikes to Duniway
You can also view the OPB story on Bike Buses across Portland.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I SEE THE BIKE BUS:
If you're in a car: (1) PULL your car to the side of the road, (2) STOP and wait for the bike bus to pass, (3) WAVE

If you're walking: (1) Make sure you're on the sidewalk and out of the way, (2) WAVE and SMILE

CAN I JOIN THE BIKE BUS:
Yes, parents and kids can join the fun. Just show up a few minutes early and wait patiently for the bus to come. Trust me, you'll hear them!
Questions: reach out to Michelle.

WHAT IS THE ROUTE:
The Bike Bus route is nearly a loop: it starts at 36th/Flavel, going north on 36th to Tolman. West on Tolman to 32nd Ave. South on 32nd to Bybee, east to Reed College Place, and then south to Duniway! Beep beep!
